SOBRE EL NOMBRE KON TIKI / ABOUT KON TIKI La balsa de madera Kon Tiki fue montado como una replica de una nave prehistórica del America del Sur y construido con nueve troncos de balsa recogido del Ecuador. Un grupo de seis hombres navegaron con la balsa desde el Callao en Peru el 28 de Abril 1947 y llegaron en la isla de Raroia en Polynesia después de 101 días. El éxito del viaje de aprox. 4300 millas comprobó que estas islas estaban al alcance de este tipo de naves prehistóricas del America Del Sur. Una documentación sobre este extraordinario viaje ha ganado un Oscar en 1951 y el libro sobre esta expedición fue publicado en nada menos que 66 idiomas. La historia del Kon Tiki, es una demostración, para el hombre de creer en nosotros mismos. El Kon Tiki es un ejemplo donde los sueños se hacen realidad. The balsa wood raft Kon-Tiki was built as a copy of a prehistoric South American vessel constructed of nine balsa logs collected from Ecuador, a crew of six men saild the raft from Callao in Peru the 28th of April 1947 and Landed on the island of Raroia in Polynesia after 101 days. This succesful voyage of ca. 4300 miles Proved that the islands in Polynesia were within the range of this type of prehistoric South American vessel. A documentary of the voyage won an Oscar in 1951 and the Book about the expedition has been translated into no feder than 66 languages. |
